HEM beams, European standard wide flange H beam
h beam wide flange basic parameter system
Specification annotation: named as "HEM+height value" (such as HEM200 actual height 220mm), typical section parameters are web height 200-270mm, flange width 106-248mm, web thickness 12-18mm, flange thickness 20-32mm.
Standard weight: 26.7-157kg/m (increases with the model, HEM100 is 26.7kg/m, HEM240 reaches 157kg/m).
Implementation standard: Geometric tolerance follows EN 10034, material properties comply with EN 10025.
w wide flange beam core structural characteristics
The width-to-thickness ratio design meets the EN 1993-1-1 Class 1 section classification standard, and the plastic stage still maintains stable load-bearing capacity.
The flange thickness is 24-32mm, which forms a golden ratio with the 14.5-18mm web, and the bending modulus reaches 589cm³ (HEM200) to higher specifications.
The 30mm fillet radius design reduces stress concentration and improves fatigue life.
Material performance advantages
The main material adopts S355J2/J0 h beam material series, with yield strength ≥355MPa, tensile strength 470-630MPa, and -20℃ impact toughness ≥27J.
Carbon equivalent ≤0.47%, sulfur and phosphorus content ≤0.025%, ensuring welding performance and low-temperature brittleness resistance.
w shape structural steel application scenarios
Heavy buildings: super high-rise building core tube frame, modular steel structure node.
Traffic engineering: 42-meter span cantilever bridge, cross-sea bridge support components.
Industrial equipment: port thousand-ton crane track beam, mine crusher support frame.
Special structures: nuclear power plant containment support, LNG tank dome frame.
Technical points for selection
Load adaptation: HEM200 w shape beam can bear seismic loads with interlayer displacement angles of ≥0.15rad; HE240 is suitable for over-limit conditions with axial pressure >10000kN.
Anti-corrosion design: S355J2+N material + epoxy zinc-rich coating (film thickness ≥120μm) is recommended for marine environment.
Processing specifications: welding preheating temperature ≥120℃ (plate thickness >35mm), interlayer temperature 200-250℃; bolt connection must be compatible with EN 14399 high-strength bolt system.
