W30 represents the height of the steel section is 30 inches (about 762 mm), and 124 represents the weight per foot is 124 pounds (about 184.3 kg/m).
The full model may be marked as W30×10.5×124, and the middle parameter usually represents the flange width (10.5 inches, about 266.7 mm).
Sectional dimensions
Typical parameters: web thickness is about 16.3 mm, flange thickness is about 28.4 mm (please refer to ASTM standard drawings for details).
