Chemical composition and standards‌


S355ML h type beam is a European standard low-alloy high-strength fine-grained steel that complies with the ‌EN 10025-4‌ standard. The chemical composition is strictly controlled: ‌C≤0.14%‌, ‌Si≤0.50%‌, ‌Mn≤1.60%‌, and micro-alloy elements such as ‌Nb/V/Ti‌ are added to optimize grain refinement.
‌P/S≤0.025%‌, reducing cold brittleness, improving weldability and processing stability.

 

‌Mechanical properties‌
‌Yield strength‌: ‌≥355MPa‌ when the steel plate thickness is ≤16mm, and the strength gradually decreases as the thickness increases (such as ≥345MPa when 16-40mm).
‌Tensile strength‌: 470-630MPa, with both high strength and good plasticity.
‌Impact toughness‌: Longitudinal impact energy ‌≥27J‌ at -20℃, outstanding low-temperature fracture resistance.

 

‌Heat treatment and processability‌
The product is delivered in hot-rolled state (+N) by default, and supports normalizing (890-950℃) or quenching and tempering process to improve grain uniformity.
Low carbon equivalent (CEV≤0.40%), supports arc welding, submerged arc welding and other processes, and the toughness of the welded joint is stable.

Fatigue resistance: low crack growth rate under cyclic load, suitable for dynamic load scenarios such as bridges and port machinery.

Seismic resistance: elongation after fracture ≥ 20% (A50mm specimen), plastic deformation capacity meets seismic design requirements.

Load-bearing efficiency: high section modulus (W<sub>y</sub>≈2980 cm³), a single beam can replace multiple sets of ordinary steel.
