HEA550 HEB550 Wide flanged beam performance features
HEA HEB550 h beam material strength differences
Section modulus: HEB h beam steel structure has a larger section modulus due to its wider flanges and thicker webs, and is stronger in resisting bending than HEA steel of the same height.
Moment of inertia (I): Due to the cross-sectional characteristics of HEB steel, its moment of inertia is generally greater than that of HEA steel of the same height, providing better bending resistance.
Weight per meter: The weight per meter of the HEB550 h section steel beam is approximately 199 kg/m, while the weight per meter of the HEA550 h shaped beam is approximately 166 kg/m. Heavier steel generally means higher material usage and greater load-bearing capacity.
