Products Description
S355J2W is a medium-strength, low-carbon manganese weathering steel that combines excellent weldability with good impact resistance, maintaining stable performance even in low-temperature environments (down to -20°C).
This steel is typically supplied in an untreated or normalized condition and offers machinability similar to ordinary low-carbon steel, making it easy to cut, weld, and form.
It has a tensile strength of 470–630 MPa, a yield strength of 355 MPa, elongation of ≥20%, impact energy of ≥27 J @ 0°C, and a density of approximately 7.85 g/cm³.
Its weathering resistance comes from alloying elements such as copper, chromium, nickel, and phosphorus, which enable the steel to form a dense, stable protective oxide layer under atmospheric conditions. This significantly reduces maintenance costs while extending service life. S355J2W is equivalent to Corten B steel plate.
