hot work tool steel Product Introduction
AISI H11 tool steel is a 5% chromium hot work tool steel with excellent impact toughness. Chromium hot work tool steels are designated as Group H steels according to the AISI classification system and are specified in the ASTM A681 standard. In the H1 to H19 series, the most commonly used chromium hot work tool steels are H11 tool steel, H12 tool steel, and H13 steel.
H11 tool steel has a lower vanadium content than the commonly used H13 hot work tool steel. This gives H11 steel greater toughness but reduced wear and temper resistance.
H11 tool steel is a deep hardening, air hardening steel, H11 alloy steel can be deep hardened by heat treatment and air quenching. Therefore, there is minimal dimensional change during heat treatment. H11 tool steel also has excellent resistance to thermal fatigue cracking, and has excellent resistance to rough cracking and thermal shock when water-cooled in use.
