DIN 1.2367 steel, also known as X38CrMoV5-3, is a hot work tool steel with excellent toughness, high temperature strength and excellent resistance to thermal cracking. These properties make it the first choice for many industrial applications, providing superior performance even under extreme conditions.
DIN 1.2367 Mechanical properties of steel
1.2367 steel is recognized for its excellent mechanical properties, including high tensile strength and toughness. These properties make it particularly suitable for high-pressure die casting and extrusion.
Hardness: After annealing, the hardness is typically around 235 HB (Brinnell). After quenching and tempering, the hardness range is 50-52 HRC (Rockwell hardness).
Yield Strength: Depends on heat treatment, but generally around 1200-1400 MPa.
Tensile Strength: Dependent on heat treatment, but expected to range from approximately 1400-1600 MPa.
Good toughness: This steel can withstand high temperatures and stresses without failing, making it suitable for applications such as die casting. Good thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion coefficient.
