718H mold steel Product Introduction
718H is a vacuum-melted chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy steel that is hardened and tempered before leaving the factory. It offers the following advantages: no risk of quench cracking and heat treatment; no heat treatment required; shorter cycle times; low cost (e.g., no overseas Chinese distortion); easy to correct molds; and can be nitrided and case-hardened to improve mold surface hardness and wear resistance.
Steel 718H is a prehardened mirror finish acid resistant plastic mold steel. The steel is pre-hardened with uniform material, high cleanliness and excellent polishing and lithography properties. It also has high hardenability, good electrical machinability and stripe machinability. Prehardened steel can be used for mold bores without hardening, and flanges can be flame quenched to increase hardness to 52 HRC.
