What is the difference between round steel and other steel bars?

Round steel is a solid steel strip with a circular cross-section. Its specifications are expressed in millimeters of diameter, round steel is divided into hot-rolled, forged, cold-drawn three kinds. Hot rolled round steel specifications for the 5.5-250mm. which: 5.5-25mm small round steel is mostly supplied in bundles of straight bars, commonly used as reinforcing steel.

Classification by process: round steel is divided into hot-rolled, forged, cold-drawn three. Hot rolled round steel specifications for the 5.5-250mm, of which: 5.5-25mm small round steel more straight bars supplied in bundles, commonly used for rebar, bolts, a variety of mechanical parts; greater than 25mm round steel is mainly used in the manufacture of mechanical parts and seamless steel pipe billet.

Classification by chemical composition: carbon steel by chemical composition (i.e., carbon content) can be divided into low carbon steel, medium carbon steel, high carbon steel.

(1) low carbon steel: also known as low carbon steel, carbon content of 0.10% to 0.30%. Low carbon steel is easy to forge, welding, cutting and other kinds of processing, commonly used in the manufacture of chains, rivets, bolts, shafts and so on.

(2) medium carbon steel: carbon steel containing 0.25% to 0.60%. There are sedated steel, semi-sedated steel, boiling steel and other products. In addition to carbon, can also contain a small amount of manganese (0.70% ~ 1.20%). According to product quality is divided into ordinary carbon structural steel and high quality carbon structural steel. Good hot working and cutting performance, poor welding performance. Strength and hardness is higher than mild steel, but plasticity and toughness is lower than mild steel. Hot-rolled, cold-drawn materials can be used directly without heat treatment or after heat treatment. Medium carbon steel has good comprehensive mechanical properties after tempering. The highest achievable hardness is about HRC55 (HB538), σb is 600-1100MPa. so, in the medium strength level of various uses, medium carbon steel is most widely used. In addition to being used as building materials, it is also widely used in the manufacture of various mechanical parts.

(3) High-carbon steel: often called tool steel, containing 0.60% to 1.70% carbon, can be quenched and tempered. Hammers, crowbars and other steel with a carbon content of 0.75%; drills, taps, reamers and other cutting tools made of steel with a carbon content of 0.90% to 1.00%.

round steel

1.Appearance
Round steel has a smooth and round shape without grain or tendon, while other steel bars have grooves or tendons on the surface, resulting in a smaller bond between round steel and concrete, while other steel bars have a smaller and larger bond with concrete.

2.Composition
Round steel (primary steel) belongs to ordinary low carbon steel, other bars are mostly alloy steel.

3.Strength
The strength of round steel is low, while the strength of other steel is high, that is, compared with other steel bars, the same diameter of round steel can withstand the tensile force is smaller than other steel bars, but the round steel plasticity is stronger than other steel bars, that is, round steel is stronger than other steel bars. The deformation before rupture is larger, while the deformation before rupture of other steel bars is much smaller.
