I beam basic knowledge
I-beams, also known as steel beams, are long pieces of steel with an I-shaped cross-section. I-beams are divided into ordinary I-beams and lightweight I-beams. I-beam is a steel section with I-beam shape.
I-beams are mainly divided into ordinary I-beams, light duty I-beams and wide flange I-beams.
Under the same height, light I-beam has narrow flange, thin web and light weight. Wide flange I-beam, also known as H-beam, is characterized by two parallel legs and no slope on the inside of the legs. It belongs to the economic section steel, which is rolled on the four-roll universal rolling mill, so it is also called "universal I-beam". Ordinary I-beams and lightweight I-beams have already formed the national standard.

Advantages of I-beam:
1. I-beam can be designed strong, and easy to cut, weld, you can adjust the length of the I-beam according to their needs;
2. I-beam is aging-resistant and has a long service life. Its raw material is mainly steel, its anti-impact, anti-wear performance is better than other material alternatives, so its service life is also longer;
3. Light weight, easy to construct and enhance the construction period. Because of its special structure, it makes the I-beam lighter in weight with the strength and load-bearing capacity of other profiles, which makes it lighter to be handled during the construction and helps to save the construction time and improve the working period;
4. Beautiful appearance. I-beam from the appearance, up and down, left and right is symmetrical, since ancient times are concerned about symmetry, so I-beam from the appearance of more in line with the public aesthetic;
5. In addition, I-beam also has the characteristics of insulation, good magnetic permeability, fire retardant and thermal insulation.
Scope of application:
1. Beam and column members in steel structure of industrial and civil buildings;
2. Steel bearing support of industrial structure;
3. Steel piles and supporting structures of underground engineering;
4. Petrochemical, electric power and other industrial equipment structures;
5. Large-span steel bridge components;
6. Ship and machinery manufacturing frame structures.
