S355J2 Material characteristics
Chemical composition: S355J2 is a low-alloy high-strength structural steel that complies with European standard EN 10025-2. Its chemical composition is based on low carbon, low sulfur and phosphorus, with carbon (C) content ≤0.24%, manganese (Mn) content ≤1.60%, silicon (Si) content ≤0.55%, phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) content ≤0.025%, and also contains copper (Cu) ≤0.55%, chromium (Cr) ≤0.30%, nickel (Ni) ≤0.50% and other elements. The reasonable combination of these elements improves the comprehensive performance of the steel.

 

Mechanical properties: The minimum yield strength is 355MPa, the tensile strength is between 450-680MPa, and the elongation after fracture is ≥18%. It can still maintain excellent impact toughness at -20℃ low temperature environment, has good plasticity and toughness, and can withstand large loads and impacts.

 

Processing performance: It is produced by hot rolling or normalizing rolling process, has good weldability and processability, can be easily cut, formed and welded, and the welded joints are of stable quality, high strength, and not easy to produce cracks and other defects. It is suitable for various complex processing needs.
