ASTM A252 Grade 3 Steel Pipe is widely used for steel piling applications and structural pipe piles. Manufactured under the ASTM A252 specification, these pipes cover nominal (average) wall steel pipe piles of cylindrical shape.

ASTM A252 Grade 3 pipe piles are designed for applications in which the steel cylinder acts either as a permanent load-carrying member or as a structural shell for cast-in-place concrete piles.
ASTM A252 Grade 3 Material & Manufacturing Process
Manufacturing Process
ASTM A252 Grade 3 pipe piles are produced using:
Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) process
Seamless pipe process
All welded pipe piles have longitudinal weld seams.
Steelmaking Process
The steel for Grade 3 piles is made using one or more of the following:
Open-hearth process
Basic-oxygen furnace
Electric-furnace process
ASTM A252 Grade 3 Chemical Composition
| Element | Maximum Content (%) |
|---|---|
| Phosphorus (P) | ≤ 0.050 |
Chemical analysis shall comply with ASTM A751 test methods and requirements.
ASTM A252 Grade 3 Mechanical Properties
