ASTM A252 Structural Steel Pipe Overview
A252 Structural Steel Pipe is a welded steel tube available in a wide range of sizes to meet structural piping requirements across water systems, oil & gas projects, and various industrial sectors. ASTM A252 Specification covers nominal (average) wall steel pipe piles of cylindrical shape, used where the steel cylinder acts as:
A permanent load-carrying member, or
A structural shell for cast-in-place concrete piles.
Surface Requirements
Surface imperfections deeper than 25% of the nominal wall thickness are considered defects.
Imperfections ≤ 22.5% of the nominal wall thickness may be repaired by welding, provided the defect is completely removed before welding.
