SAE 8620 alloy steel is a low-alloy nickel, chromium, molybdenum case-hardened steel conforming to U.S. standards, usually supplied in the as-rolled condition, with a maximum hardness of HB 255max. SAE 8620 high strength low alloy steel has high external strength and good internal strength, making it highly wear-resistant.
SAE 8620 steel has good core strength and toughness after carburizing, quenching and tempering. Typical uses for SAE 8620 high strength plate include spindles, bearings, bushings, camshafts, guide pins, piston pins, splined shafts, ratchets, sleeves, etc.
