The ASTM designation for HSLA-65 steel is A945 Grade 65. HSLA-65 has a minimum yield strength of 517 MPa and a tensile strength between 550 and 700 MPa.
ASTM A945 Grade 65 steel is a high-strength, low-alloy structural steel with better weldability, formability and toughness that can be used to build warships. ASTM allows manufacturers the option of offering alloy steel in thicknesses 1.25 inches and less, delivered as rolled, normalized, or quenched and tempered. Steel thicker than 1.25 inches must be supplied in the quenched and tempered condition.
