HSLA (High Strength Low Alloy) steel has higher strength and resistance to atmospheric corrosion. They can be considered microalloyed steels, designed for mechanical rather than compositional specifications. ASTM A812 HSLA Grade 65 Steel Used where strength and durability are required, such as welded stratified pressure vessels.
A812 HSLA 65 alloy steel has higher strength and toughness than carbon steel, and its strengthening effect becomes more obvious as the degree of structural imbalance increases. The strength of annealed alloy steel is not much superior to carbon steel. In the normalized state, the strength of alloy steel is significantly higher than that of carbon steel. After quenching and tempering, the strengthening effect of alloy steel is most significant.
