O1 Tool Steel Product Introduction
O1 tool steel is an oil-hardened, cold-work general-purpose steel characterized by ease of machining and low quenching temperatures compared to other steels.
O1 has good wear resistance and toughness sufficient for standard tool and die applications, making it suitable for tooling with long tool life and economical production. Some common applications include: bending dies, trimming dies, piercers, broaches, punching dies, forming dies, gauges, cutting dies, bushings, forming rollers, knives, stretching dies and embossing dies.
O1 tool steel grade has better machinability than A2 tool steel. Must be hardened in oil to finish at relatively low temperatures for good dimensional stability. The polished surface provides a smooth finish without minor imperfections.
