8620 Hot Rolled Round Bar
AISI 8620 round bar is a low-alloy nickel, chromium, molybdenum case-hardened steel, usually supplied in as-rolled condition, with a maximum hardness of HB 255max. SAE 8620 steel has high external strength and good internal strength, making it highly wear-resistant. AISI 8620 steel has higher core strength than 8615 and 8617 grades.
SAE 8620 alloy steel provides flexibility during the hardening process, allowing for improved shell/core performance. Prehardened and tempered (not carburized) 8620 can be further case hardened by nitriding, but due to its low carbon content does not respond satisfactorily to flame or induction hardening.
8620 steel is suitable for applications requiring a combination of toughness and wear resistance. This grade is usually supplied in round bar form.
