Revealing the production process of stainless steel pipes

1. Rolling and annealing
The metal heat treatment process involves heating the workpiece to a predetermined temperature, holding it for a certain period of time, and then slowly cooling it down. The purpose of annealing is to:
(1) Improve or eliminate various structural defects and residual stresses caused by steel during casting, forging, rolling, and welding processes, and prevent workpiece deformation and cracking.
(2) Soften the workpiece for cutting processing.
(3) Refine the grain size and improve the microstructure to enhance the mechanical properties of the workpiece.
(4) Prepare the organization for the final heat treatment and piping.

2. Splitting
The slitting of stainless steel coils is the process of cutting stainless steel coils into corresponding widths for further deep processing and pipe making. During the slitting process, attention should be paid to the scratches caused by the slitting knife on the coils, the width and error of the slitting, and the slitting is related to the pipe making process. The cloak and burrs of the slitting are crucial to the pipe making process.

3. Welding • Grinding of weld beads
The most important process for stainless steel pipes is argon arc welding and plasma welding. The shielding gas for argon arc welding is pure argon gas, mainly used for welding stainless steel pipes below 3mm. Plasma welding has strong penetration, mainly used for welding stainless steel pipes of 5-8mm.
During the welding process of stainless steel pipes, it is necessary to perform corresponding polishing and water cooling treatment on the surface of the weld bead. For the weld bead, water cooling is applied first, and then the weld bead is directly polished with a water grinder to a smooth surface for polishing and trimming.

4. Plastic shaping and cutting
The process of stainless steel welded pipes is called extrusion production. All square and rectangular pipes are initially derived from circular pipes. By producing circular pipes with the same circumference, they are then extruded into corresponding square and rectangular pipes, and finally shaped and straightened using molds.
The process of making and cutting stainless steel pipes is relatively rough, and most of them are cut with grinding wheels. After cutting, a cloak will be produced, which needs further trimming; Another type is band saw cutting, which has relatively good accuracy. There is also a need for cloak heat treatment for special purpose pipes, which requires bright heat treatment to achieve a higher level of ductility performance.

5. Polishing
Usually, there are several surface treatment processes for product pipes and decorative pipes. Polishing is divided into 400 #, 600 #, and 800 #, while sandblasting is divided into round sand and straight sand, with 180 #, 240 #, 400 #, 600 #, and 800 #, which are respectively suitable for the needs of customers at different levels.
