The Use of Weathering Steel
Weathering steel, also known as atmospheric corrosion resistant steel, is a low alloy steel series that falls between ordinary steel and stainless steel. Weathering plates are made of ordinary carbon steel with a small amount of corrosion-resistant elements such as copper and nickel added. Their weather resistance is 2-8 times that of ordinary carbon steel, and their coating resistance is 1.5-10 times that of ordinary carbon steel.

Weathering steel is mainly used for steel structures exposed to the atmosphere for a long time, such as railways, vehicles, bridges, towers, photovoltaics, and high-speed engineering. It can also be used to manufacture structural components such as containers, railway vehicles, oil rigs, harbor buildings, oil production platforms, and containers for sulfur-containing corrosive media in chemical and petroleum equipment. In addition, due to its unique appearance, weather resistant steel is also commonly used in public art, outdoor sculpture, and building exterior wall decoration.
