High Speed Steel Product Introduction
The most important alloying elements in tungsten high speed steel include carbon, tungsten, cobalt, chromium and vanadium. Tungsten HSS contains 4% chromium. T4 and T15 are cobalt-based tungsten steels containing varying amounts of cobalt. Type T1 tungsten high speed steel does not contain cobalt or molybdenum.
Tungsten high speed steel has good wear resistance and high red hardness. The maximum hardness of Group T steels varies with carbon content and alloy content.
Tungsten high-speed steels with C and V contents above 1.0% and 1.5% will produce large amounts of wear-resistant hard carbides in the microstructure due to higher carbon and alloy contents. High speed tungsten steel will undergo deep hardening after quenching at a quenching temperature of 1205-1300°C (2200-2375°F). Solid tools such as cold extrusion punches and large-diameter broaches are made of high-speed tungsten steel.
