1.1730 Hot rolled thick carbon steel for plastic molds
German DIN standard material 1.1730 is a medium carbon steel and a high-grade medium carbon steel. 1.1730 steel is a completely static steel manufactured by electric furnace, open hearth or pure oxygen converter steelmaking method. It has the characteristics of excellent processability and uniform metallographic structure. The steel is affordable, easy to process, and suitable for surface hardening treatments such as high-frequency quenching and flame quenching. The carbon content (mass fraction,) of this steel is ≥0.4, and it has excellent wear resistance, but its ductility is reduced, and it is easy to deform and crack after quenching, so quenching is important, and it must be cooled quickly after tempering to avoid temper brittleness.
