High-speed steel is a tool steel with high hardness and high heat resistance, also known as high-speed tool steel or sharp steel. High-speed steel process performance is good, strength and toughness with good, so mainly used to manufacture complex thin edge and impact-resistant metal cutting tools, but also the manufacture of high-temperature bearings and cold extrusion molds and so on.
High-speed steel is a complex steel, carbon content is generally between 0.70 ~ 1.65%. Containing more alloying elements, the total amount of up to 10 ~ 25%. According to the use of different high-speed steel can be divided into general-purpose and special-purpose two kinds. General-purpose high-speed steel is mainly used in the manufacture of cutting tools for cutting metal materials with a hardness of HB ≤ 300; special-purpose high-speed steel, including cobalt high-speed steel and super-hard high-speed steel, is mainly used in the manufacture of cutting tools for cutting difficult-to-machine metals.
