Tool Steels Product Introduction
Alloy steels are numbered with the AISI four-digit number and consist of different types of steel, each with a composition that exceeds the limits of B, C, Mn, Mo, Ni, Si, Cr, and Va specified for carbon steels.
AISI 4140 is an alloy steel supplied in the annealed or pre-hardened condition. The alloy steel consists of a low alloy containing chromium, molybdenum and manganese. It is characterized by high fatigue strength, torsional strength, wear resistance and toughness. The plates in the prehardened state are heated to a medium hardness (HRC 26/34) and can be used as clamping material for high-strength structural components.
AISI 4140 alloy steel is characterized by high fatigue strength, wear and impact resistance, toughness and torsional strength.
