SS400 is a Japanese steel grade, and the specification is JIS G3101. The first S of SS400 indicates steel, the second S indicates "structure", 400 is the lower limit tensile strength of 400MPa, and the overall tensile strength is 400MPa. of general structural steel.

SS400 is often rolled into wire rods or round steel, square steel, flat steel, angle steel, I-beam, channel steel, window frame steel and other sections, medium and thick steel plates.

Many are used in construction and engineering structures. It is used to make steel bars or factory building frames, high-voltage transmission towers, bridges, vehicles, boilers, containers, ships, etc., and may also be used as mechanical parts that do not have high functional requirements. Grade C and D steel can also be used for certain professional steel applications.
