ASTM A656 is a standard specification for hot-rolled structural steel, high-strength low-alloy plate with better formability.
ASTM A656 low alloy steel sheet has five strength grades: 50, 60, 70, 80 and 100 high strength low alloy hot rolled structural steel. Of these, levels 80 and 100 have the highest yields. The requirements for performance and chemistry are more stringent than for A572.
ASTM A656 high strength plate can be used on truck frames, racks, crane jibs, rail cars and similar uses.
