A36 SM400 Carbon Steel H Beam
A36 is a type of low carbon steel. Mild steel is classified as having less than 0.3% carbon by weight. This makes A36 H-beam easy to machine, weld and form. Low carbon also prevents heat treatment from having too much of an impact on A36 H-beam steel. A36 H-beams also typically contain small amounts of other alloying elements, including manganese, sulfur, phosphorus and silicon. These alloying elements are added to give A36 H steel the required chemical and mechanical properties.
