Welding of weathering steel is relatively simple. It welds very similarly to some common mild steels (such as ASTM A36 and ASTM A572) and is a fairly new type of steel, in addition to being a variable steel that is welded to mild steel. The main difference from ordinary mild steel is that its tensile strength is much higher than that of mild steel. It can be welded using conventional welding methods such as gas shielded and tig welding.
Weathering steel can also be welded by all types of welding processes due to its high tensile strength. It is a product made by mixing carbon steel with anti-rust additives.
