ASTM A423 Grade 1 Corten Steel Pipe is widely used in bridges and other large structural projects. The chemical composition of this type of Corten steel pipe includes Carbon (C ≤ 0.19%), Phosphorus (P ≤ 0.035%), Manganese (Mn 0.30–0.93%), Sulfur (S ≤ 0.045%), Copper (Cu 0.20–0.50%), and Silicon (Si ≤ 0.35%).
The relatively high alloy content provides ASTM A423 GR 1 ERW Corten Steel Pipes with enhanced oxidation resistance, pitting resistance in acidic environments, crevice corrosion resistance, and stress corrosion cracking resistance.
At the same time, these pipes maintain excellent strength and durability in harsh environments. Typical mechanical properties include a minimum yield strength of 240 MPa, tensile strength of 415–550 MPa, and elongation of ≥ 30%, ensuring safety and reliability under demanding conditions.
A423 GR 1 pipes perform exceptionally well in highly corrosive environments and are widely used in sugar mills, chemical processing industries, and heat exchangers.
Their chemical composition-mainly carbon, phosphorus, manganese, sulfur, copper, and silicon-provides strong oxidation resistance, pitting resistance in acidic media, crevice resistance, and resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
In long-term service, the atmospheric corrosion resistance of A423 GR 1 pipes is 4–8 times higher than that of ordinary carbon steel, significantly reducing maintenance and replacement costs.
These pipes are available in a size range of 21.3 mm – 609.6 mm outer diameter, 2.5 mm – 60 mm wall thickness, and lengths up to 6 m – 12 m, meeting the diverse requirements of different projects.
