A709 steel plate Product Introduction
ASTM A709 steel plate is in accordance with the standard specification for bridge structural steel. ASTM A709 steel plate is a carbon, high strength low alloy and quenched and tempered alloy steel mainly used in bridge construction. GNEE provides the following 5 grades of steel plate A709, 36, 50, 50W, HPS 50W. The atmospheric corrosion resistance index of the three grades of 50W, HPS 50W and HPS 70W is 6.0.

High strength: A709-50W steel plate has high yield strength and tensile strength, and can withstand large loads. Generally speaking, its yield strength is between 345-520MPa, and the tensile strength must be greater than or equal to 485MPa.
Weather resistance: The steel plate has good weather resistance and can be used for a long time in harsh climatic conditions without conventional anti-corrosion treatment. A dense rust layer can be formed on its surface, effectively preventing further corrosion inside.
Mechanical properties: In addition to high strength and weather resistance, A709-50W steel plate also has good welding and processing properties, which facilitates various welding and cutting operations during the manufacturing process.
A709 refers to the American standard: ASTM A structural steel for bridges, which is similar to my country's GB/T 714 structural steel for bridges. Of course, due to different standard systems, the data inside is different. 50 is the grade in the ASTM A709 standard (called steel grade in my country) A709-50T-2, A709-50F-2.
4. Bridge steel
Steel used to build railway and highway bridges. It is required to have high strength and sufficient toughness, low notch sensitivity, good low temperature toughness, anti-aging sensitivity, fatigue resistance and welding performance. The main steels used are low-alloy high-strength steels such as Q345q, Q370q, and Q420q.

-2 means: Charpy V-notch impact test zone code
It has two situations: the letter T should be marked after the material grade code: Zone 2 is ≥20J at 4°C
The letter F should be marked after the material grade code: Zone 2 is ≥34J at 4°C

6. A709-50F-2 Packaging, marking, and quality certificate: The packaging, marking, and quality certificate of steel plates should comply with the provisions of GB/T 247.
