Products Description
S355JR steel is a commonly used carbon structural steel suitable for construction, tanks, factories, bridges, and machinery manufacturing. Originating from Europe, according to the EN 10025-2 standard, its typical chemical composition is: Carbon (C) ≤ 0.20%, Manganese (Mn) ≤ 1.70%, Silicon (Si) ≤ 0.55%, Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035%, and Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.035%.
The mechanical properties of S355JR steel are: minimum yield strength 355 MPa, tensile strength 470–630 MPa, elongation ≥ 20%, and it can pass a 27J impact test at 20°C, ensuring toughness and reliability.

S355JR steel is commonly supplied in the form of hot-rolled plates (thickness 4–200 mm), wire rods, round bars (diameter 10–300 mm), square bars, flat bars, angle steel, I-beams, and channel steel.
In other countries, there are similar steels or equivalent grades to S355JR, such as Q345B (China), A572 Gr 50 (USA), ST52-3 (Germany), and SM490B (Japan).

Application
Structural unalloyed steel S355JR is a versatile material widely used across multiple industries, including construction, metallurgy, heavy and transport engineering, machine tool manufacturing, power engineering, and bridge construction. Its high strength, toughness, and good weldability make it suitable for manufacturing a wide range of structural components, such as beams, columns, frames, platforms, and supports.
S355JR steel is also used in various types of metal structures and profiles, including I-beams, H-beams, channels, angles, and flat or round bars.
Additionally, it is employed in the production of parts and elements for ground and underground equipment, industrial machinery components, storage tanks, pressure vessels, and low- to medium-load mechanical parts. Its ability to withstand static and moderate dynamic loads ensures reliable performance in infrastructure and engineering applications.

Welding
S355JR steel offers excellent weldability using a variety of welding techniques, including arc welding, MIG, TIG, and spot welding. It can be welded both without pre-heating and with controlled pre-heating, depending on the thickness and stress conditions of the material. Post-weld heat treatment is optional but can be applied to relieve residual stresses and improve toughness when required.
The steel's good formability and machinability allow it to be cut, drilled, punched, and bent into desired shapes without compromising structural integrity. Combined with its mechanical properties-minimum yield strength of 355 MPa, tensile strength of 470–630 MPa, and elongation ≥ 20%-S355JR is ideal for producing durable and safe structural and mechanical components.
