Products Description
S890Q is a high-strength structural steel with a minimum yield strength of 890 MPa, delivered in a quenched and tempered (Q) condition according to the EN 10025-6 standard.
It is ideal for critical applications that must withstand extreme loads, including load-bearing elements in mining and heavy construction machinery, primary beams and support structures for cranes and lifting equipment, offshore drilling platforms, and support towers for wind turbines, as well as main girders and supports for bridges and trestles.

Moreover, S890Q is well-suited for industrial machinery, port equipment, and large-scale engineering components where exceptional strength and durability are required. Its high-performance characteristics allow for reduced structural weight, enhanced safety, and longer operational life.

Typical Applications of S890Q Steel Plate
S890Q is a high-strength structural steel with a minimum yield strength of 890 MPa, supplied in quenched and tempered (Q) condition, complying with the EN 10025-6 standard.
Its exceptionally high strength, excellent toughness, and low-temperature impact resistance (for thicknesses of 6–100 mm, tensile strength ranges from 880–980 MPa, elongation 12–16%, Charpy V-notch impact energy at -40°C ≥ 30 J) allow it to withstand extreme loads and demanding working conditions, making it particularly suitable for critical load-bearing structures and components.
This makes S890Q ideal for bridges, towers, and building structural members, as well as essential parts of earthmoving and transport equipment, including dipper sticks, buckets, and crane components, where high strength and impact resistance are crucial.
In addition, S890Q is well-suited for industrial and energy applications, such as turbine scroll cases, unfired pressure vessels, and penstocks, because its combination of high strength, toughness, and durability ensures long-term operational reliability.
Its low-carbon alloyed chemical composition (C ≤0.20%, Si ≤0.80%, Mn ≤1.70%, P ≤0.020%, S ≤0.010%, Cr ≤1.50%, Ni ≤2.00%, Mo ≤0.70%, V ≤0.12%) also provides excellent weldability and machinability, further enhancing its suitability for high-strength engineering applications.
