Applications of S235JR
S235JR is suitable for welding, bolted connections and riveting. It is readily weldable and bendable and suitable for non-critical structures. Its machinability characteristics are similar to that of mild steel.
It is typically used in the construction of buildings and bridges, vehicle structures, and tools and cutters. Plates are particularly suitable for shipbuilding.
WHAT ARE I BEAMS USED FOR?
There are various uses for these steel beams in structural steel fabrication. Usually, I beams are used as critical support trusses or in the frameworks of buildings. Structural steel beams, in general, are used in applications to provide structural support, due to steel's strength, durability and resistance to rust (thanks to steel finishing).
Using I beams means that far fewer other support structures are required, which does help to save on costs and time, while also ensuring greater structural stability. Universal beams can handle a wide variety of loads when used horizontally, and the same can be said for universal columns as vertical supports.
WHAT ARE H BEAMS USED FOR?
H Beams are commonly used in the construction of buildings as well but also large trailers and bridges, among others.
Due to their slightly different cross-section shape, thicker central web and wider flanges, H beams can bear larger loads than I beams. While both are advantageous load-bearing structures, due to how long H beams can span for, they are more reliable for larger-scale projects. However, I beams are lighter and still have proven highly effective in numerous applications.
