A572 GR.42 CARBON STEEL H BEAM is a dual certified beam used where corrosion resistance is important. It contains small additions of vanadium or columbium, chrome, copper, nickel and molybdenum, that give A992 better weldability and material definition. The shape of the H beam makes it incredibly strong for columns. A572/A992 is often used in bridge construction and frame building.

Its low content of alloy elements such as columbium & vanadium optimize the properties in strength and atmospheric corrosion. Owing to its high strength of 50,000 ksi yield strength, A572 GR.42 H steel beam are increasingly replacing common carbon steel beam like A36 which should be thicker to satisfy the strength requirement.
