Low-Alloy High-Strength plate steel Product Introduction

GB Q420 D GB/T 1591 steel is a high performance low alloy steel developed by the Chinese steel industry. It is composed of manganese and silicon as the main alloying elements. This steel has a higher strength to weight ratio than many other conventioal steels, making it suitable for many applications, including construction, shipbuilding, railways, and wind power. Its wear and corrosion resistant properties also make it ideal for use in industrial and offshore applications. GB Q420 D GB/T 1591 steel is widely used in China and is rapidly gaining popularity all over the world.

GB Q420 D GB/T 1591 Chemical Element

The main alloying elements in GB Q420 D GB/T 1591 steel are manganese and silicon. These elements are essential to creating the desired tensile strength and yield strength of the material. Manganese is used in the steel to increase strength, hardness, and wear resistance of the material. Silicon increases the electrochemical stability and weldability of the steel. Other trace alloying elements may also be added in small amounts for various purposes.

GB Q420 D GB/T 1591 in addition to carbon, steel also contains a small amount of manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), sulfur (S), phosphorus (P), oxygen (O), nitrogen (N) and hydrogen (H). These elements are not intentionally added to improve the quality of steel, but are brought in by ore and smelting process, so they are called impurity elements. These impurities have a certain impact on the properties of steel. In order to ensure the quality of steel, the chemical composition of all kinds of steel is strictly stipulated in technical standards.

GB Q420 D GB/T 1591 Mechanical Properties

GB Q420 D GB/T 1591 steel has a high tensile strength, typically ranging from 500MPa to 900MPa. The yield strength typically ranges from 300MPa to 600MPa. This steel also has a good impact toughness, typically ranging from 15J/cm2 to 20J/cm2. These properties make it suitable for use in load-bearing structures, such as bridges and buildings. This steel also has a high wear resistance, making it suitable for use in shipbuilding and other wear applications.

The yield refers to the transition of GB Q420 D GB/T 1591 from non-uniform elastic state to elastic-plastic state after reaching a certain deformation stress. It marks the beginning of macro-plastic deformation.
Tensile strength(Rm) refers to the maximum stress that GB Q420 D GB/T 1591 bears before breaking. When the steel yields to a certain extent, its resistance to deformation increases again due to the rearrangement of internal grains. At this time, although the deformation develops rapidly, it can only increase with the increase of stress until the maximum stress is reached. Thereafter, the GB Q420 D GB/T 1591 is ability to resist deformation is obviously reduced, and a large plastic deformation occurs at the weakest point, where the section of the specimen shrinks rapidly, leading to necking until fracture. The maximum stress value of GB Q420 D GB/T 1591 before tensile fracture is called strength limit or tensile strength.
