Galvanised Channel is a S355 hot rolled low carbon channel steel treated with a zinc rich hot dip plating process. Galvanised channel steel is a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel, providing up to 30 years of rust protection while maintaining considerable strength through a durable hard surface coating.
Galvanised channel steel can be cut, machined or welded in the same way as common steel, but should be adequately ventilated to avoid inhalation of fumes from heating. The sawn ends of our pre-cut channels are not galvanised and should be treated with a cold galvanising compound to keep them protected after the project is completed. Any drilled or welded areas should also be treated.
