Products application

S235JR carbon structural steel is commonly rolled into wire rod or round steel (diameter 6–200 mm), square steel, flat steel, angle steel, I-beam, channel steel, window frame steel, as well as medium and thick steel plates with a thickness of 4–200 mm. Its typical chemical composition includes: Carbon (C) ≤ 0.17%, Manganese (Mn) ≤ 1.40%, Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.045%, and Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.045%.

In terms of mechanical properties, S235JR steel has a minimum yield strength of 235 MPa, a tensile strength range of 360–510 MPa, and an elongation of ≥ 26%. It also offers good weldability and cold-forming performance.

S235JR carbon structural steel is mainly used in railways, bridges, and various construction projects, for manufacturing metal components bearing static loads, non-critical mechanical parts, and general welded structures that do not require heat treatment. Grades C and D can also be used as certain specialized steels.
