A283 refers to carbon steel conforming to ASTM A283/A283M, which is low and medium tensile strength carbon steel plate for general medium strength applications.A283 carbon steel is normally supplied in hot rolled condition, but can also be obtained in normalized or controlled rolling conditions.
ASTM A283 mild steel angle is divided into four grades of structural quality by application: A283GrA,A283GrB,A283GrC,A283GrD, and these grades determine mechanical properties and suitability for specific applications.
ASTM A283 is a carbon steel used for forming. It is slightly more ductile and slightly less strong than A36.The grades A283GrC and A283GrD are used for structural and general purposes.
