420 stainless steel is a martensitic stainless steel, belongs to the high carbon grade, under hardening conditions, has good resistance to the atmosphere, has a certain degree of abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance, hardness and other characteristics, suitable for all kinds of precision machinery, bearings, electrical, equipment, instruments, meters, transportation tools, household appliances, as well as food cutlery, stainless steel hospital equipment and so on.
Chemical composition
C: 0.16~0.25; Mn: ≤1.00; Si: ≤1.00; Cr: 12.0~14.0; Ni: ≤0.75; P: ≤0.04; S: ≤0.03.
Mechanical properties
Tensile strength σb (MPa): quenched and tempered, ≥635;
Conditional yield strength σ0.2 (MPa): quenched and tempered, ≥440;
Elongation δ5 (%): quenched and tempered, ≥20;
Section shrinkage ψ (%): quenched and tempered, ≥50;
Impact work Akv (J): quenched and tempered, ≥63;
Hardness: annealed, ≤223HB; quenched and tempered, ≥192HB.
