Wear-resistant steel is a high-carbon alloy steel used to resist wear and stress. Wear-resistant steels are available in several grades, including NM400, NM450, NM500, NM550 and NM600.
Wear-resistant steels are subjected to a two-step heat treatment process, quenching and tempering, which changes the grain structure of the steel to improve hardness and toughness.In the quenching stage, the steel is heated above the critical temperature and then rapidly cooled with water. The steel is then reheated below the critical temperature and cooled with air, which is the tempering stage.
