Products Description
ST37,ST52 Universal Beam is a rolled iron, steel or cast steel beam with an I-beam cross section, or a combined beam with an I-beam cross section. Mechanical principle of I-beam:A beam is placed horizontally on two supports. When the beam is subjected to downward pressure perpendicular to the axis, the beam is bent. Compression deformation occurs in the upper part of the beam, i.e. compressive stresses appear, and the closer to the upper edge the more severe the compression. In the lower part of the beam, tensile deformation occurs, i.e., tensile stresses appear, and the closer to the lower edge the more severe the stretching. The middle layer is neither tensile nor compressive, so there is no stress, usually called the layer for the neutral layer. Because the neutral layer contributes little to the resistance to bending, so engineering applications often use I-beams instead of square beams, and hollow tubes instead of solid columns.
