S45C mold steel is a high-quality carbon steel in Japanese standard JISG4051-79 (94). It is produced by three processes: electric furnace, open hearth and pure oxygen furnace. Its metallographic structure is uniform and there are no structural defects. This kind of steel has a carbon content of more than 0.4% and has good wear resistance, but its plasticity is reduced and it is prone to deformation and cracks during the quenching process. Therefore, it is very necessary to heat treat it, and it also needs to be tempered after tempering. Perform rapid cooling to avoid temper brittleness. On this basis, spheroidizing it can improve its cutting performance.
