3Cr13 steel is martensitic stainless steel. Martensitic stainless steel is a stainless steel whose mechanical properties can be adjusted through heat treatment.
3Cr13 stainless steel round bar has higher strength, hardness and hardenability. It has corrosion resistance in dilute HNO3 and weak organic acids at room temperature (700 degrees).
One of the highlights of the 3cr13 round bar stock is its overall toughness. It is a very strong steel that does not chip or break easily.
The good toughness of 3cr13 round rod makes it a good steel for machetes, tomahawks, throwing knives, and other more general purpose blades that may take some abuse.
