Niobium Alloy Sheet Product Introduction
Niobium sheet is a cold-rolled vacuum annealed product composed of niobium. Commercially pure niobium products are used in high-end applications such as supercoolers, superconductors and supercollider in particle acceleration applications. Niobium alloy plates are divided into type 1 and type 2 specifications. Type 1 is called reactor grade and has a maximum impurity content of 0.1%, while Type 2 is commercial grade and allows impurity levels up to 0.2%. The thickness of the flakes ranges from 0.006 inches to 0.1875 inches.
ASTM B393 UNS R04200 has a chemically pure surface suitable for a variety of reactive applications. High-end applications include synthetic diamond production, sputtering targets for optical fiber applications, etc.
UNS R04210 pure niobium plates are used in nuclear reactors and particle accelerators. These are used in the production of nickel-based superalloys and superconductors.
