Appearance Recognition
The appearance of Q235 and Q345 is generally not visible. The color difference is not related to the material of the steel, but is caused by different cooling methods after the steel is rolled out.
Generally, after natural cooling, the surface is red. If rapid cooling is used, a dense oxide layer is formed on the surface, which will appear black.

Q235 steel is a common carbon structural steel, also known as A3 steel (formerly known as A3 steel). Ordinary carbon structural steel - plain plate is a type of steel material.
Q represents the yield limit of this material, followed by 235, which refers to the yield value of this material. It is around 235 MPa, with a tensile strength of 375-500 MPa, and will decrease with the increase of material thickness.
Due to its moderate carbon content, good overall performance, and a good combination of strength, plasticity, and welding properties, it has the widest range of applications.
Q345 steel is a low alloy high-strength steel structural, which is a general term for a type of steel including 16Mn, 12MnV, 14MnNb, 18Nb, and 16MnRe. Its yield point is 345MPa, and its tensile strength is 470-630MPa. It belongs to ordinary low-alloy steel."Q" means yield strength, and 345 represents a yield strength of 345MPa for this type of steel.
So, in general, Q345 is used for strength design because it has higher strength than Q235 steel, saves steel, and saves 15% -20% compared to 235. Therefore, using Q235 is better for stability control design. The price difference is 3% -8%.
