S355J2 is a European standard hot-rolled structural steel product,S355J2+N is a kind of EN10025 European standard steel plate, compared with the national standard GB/T1591-2007, GB/T3274-2008 Q345D, its delivery status is normalized, the impact is -20 degree impact experiment, J2 requires negative 20 degree impact. The specific sector of use essentially depends on its characteristics, on the fragility and ductility and on the durability and mechanical resistance of the material.

Europe has thus decided that an acronym defines the set of peculiarities of structural steel, with the first character indicating its use. In this case, the letter S indicates that steel is used for metal carpentry.

The second part of the acronym, the number 355, indicates the minimum yield stress level, the latter assigning steel an idea of its ductility, meaning the ability to resist deformation. When this limit is exceeded, the steel passes from a reversible elastic behaviour, that is, it returns to its original condition, to a plastic one that presents irreversible deformations and the material assumes the condition of yield, even when the cause of the stress ceases its activity. This is a very important datum because it indicates the degree of resistance to a stress that the structure or product made with that particular type of steel can endure. Not only that, it is also important whether the steel will subsequently be subjected to further processing such as rolling or forging.
