aPPLICATION
Structural Steel Flat A572 is high-strength, low-alloy structural steel. It is commonly used in construction due to its high strength-to-weight ratio. It is also used to build heavy machinery and construction equipment for this same reason.
This steel has many applications including bridges, buildings, freight cars, and more. Its high strength-to-weight ratio means less steel can be used to hold the same amount of weight, meaning it is high value.
Structural Steel Flat A572 is less formable than other grades of A572, but for the most part it has good formability, weldability, and machinability. It has excellent ductility due to its chemical composition, and is very resistant to corrosion.
Advantages/Disadvantages
A572 steel plate has good structural quality with an optimal combination of high strength, high notch toughness, good weldability, and high value. Due to its alloying elements, it can be a little more difficult to form and pre-testing of both welding and post-welding heat treatments is recommended.
