Products Description

Corten steel ASTM A242 pipes are commonly used in construction and outdoor applications where the pipes are exposed to harsh weather conditions. They are also widely used in bridges, buildings, and other structures due to their high strength (yield strength approximately 345 MPa, tensile strength approximately 485 MPa) and corrosion resistance (2–8 times more resistant to atmospheric corrosion than ordinary carbon steel). Additionally, their unique rust-like appearance makes them suitable for decorative purposes.

ASTM A242 Corten steel pipes are an alloy steel grade made from iron, carbon, and other elements such as molybdenum, manganese, chromium,

nickel, copper, and vanadium.

Typically, these pipes contain 0.25%–0.50% carbon, with the remaining composition consisting of the alloying elements mentioned above, including copper (around 0.25%–0.55%) and chromium (around 0.50%–1.25%).

The exact alloy composition may vary depending on the desired properties of the pipe. Different grades are available, including ASTM A423 Grade 1 pipes, ASTM A709-50W pipes, and others.
