S355JR and S355J2 steel are widely used structure steel under standard EN10025-2. The two steel grades have much in common, as they have same Min. yield strength 355Mpa. However, it is also noted that they have difference in JR and J2. So what is the difference between S355JR and S355J2 steel?

In S355JR and S355J2 steel, JR and J2 indicates the steel needs to do +20℃ impact test and -20℃ impact test respectively. The different impact temperature is the main difference between S355JR and S355J2 steel. S355J2 steel can better adapt to low temperature work condition than S355JR steel.
