The chemical composition of St37 steel plays a fundamental role in determining its physical and mechanical properties, with the primary constituents being iron, carbon, and manganese. This thermochemical treatment enriches the steel's surface layer with carbon, thereby enhancing its wear resistance. Care must be taken, however, to ensure the carbon content in the surface layer does not exceed 0.9%, as this could lead to the formation of cementite and increase the steel's vulnerability.
